Hi Sultano,

The apostrophe usually indicates that a letter of part of a word is missing. It is often used to show possession as in 'children's books' = 'books of the children' or in a more general way 'books for children'. In your other example
Quote:
children books
doesn't work because children on its own isn't normally used as an adjective and so it would have to read: books for children.

Whta I've known that the apostrophe s isn't used for names..
i.e Ahmed's father..but for things not used..right? i.e the school gate- but sometimesI find two nouns - A person and a thing but cannot be used ..Sheraton Hotel.....Shelton Hotel .. why don't we add an apotrphe?
