It should read 'relation of PP to brim':
| Quote: | Relation of PP to brim PP (presenting part) refers to the bit of your baby that will arrive first (usually the head). Your midwife will note down how much of your baby's head can be felt above the brim of your pelvis as fifths: 5/5 means that the head is not engaged at all and is often described as being free, whilst 0/5 means that the head is fully engaged (your baby's head has moved into your pelvis ready to be born). So basically the lower the first figure, the more engaged the baby's head. E or Eng means engaged, while NE means not engaged. |

Tue Dec 05, 2006 12:31 pm What's that to do with cervix? |

Hi, Conchita, Your explanation is very clear. But in the original text I quoted, it mentioned about "the part in your cervix ready to be born first". I don't understand what's this to do with cervix or what this part of the text is trying to say... |

| The presenting part of the baby will be in the cervix uteri, Apo. As I see it, the PP stands for a head of a baby (or in some cases legs of ...) |

This means 'the part of the baby (usually the head, but sometimes the bottom or even the feet) that is in the mother's cervix (neck of the womb) -- the baby has to go through the cervix to enter the birth canal. The part of the baby that is closest to the cervix is also called 'presentation' or 'presenting part'.
Interesting subject!
