Can I replace by the way with anyhow in the below sentence?
(by leaving the same meaning)

(should I use comma after the word?)

are both all right but there is a shade of difference between the two expressions highlighted.

By the way suggests the idea of incidentally you might like to know .... You are giving a piece of information which may or may not be of interest.

Anyhow has the idea of never mind what I said before or what happened before, this is what actually happened This expression suggests you are putting aside/to one side what went before and talking about what you did next.
