The adjective 'redundant' means 'more than necessary' and, as in this context, 'dismissed'. The expression 'I have been made redundant' means that I have lost my job because I am not needed any more.

There is redundancy in the following:

Where are you at? ("at" is redundant -- "Where are you?" suffices for the purposes of the query.)

Also, I'd like to thank my mom too. ("also" and "too" mean the same thing -- only one of them is necessary)

He is kind and nice. ("kind" and "nice" mean the same thing, in this context -- only one of them is necessary)
