My advice on the reading section is to learn all the tactics. There is a tactic that i learned from the course that i took, and they taught me how to solve the problems without reading the passage. It was really weird, but it worked. I can't expalin everything in words, but they made me memorize this formula in class, and it was interesting how it really worked.
There is a program that I took, and it helped me to improve 200 points on my writing section. They worked my ass off. I usually don't like SAT preps that much, but this was actually pretty helpful. (check it out if you want: HigherKnowledgeSAT.com) They teach you how to master your grammar and writing. |

I definitely disagree with higherknowledgesat.com! The object of practicing for such tests is not to find tricks and discover shortcuts, which, in the long run, will only hurt you. Instead what you should do if you want to improve your SAT score is to really, really study and practice. So, that means take tons of practice tests, and also visit good websites, some of which I list below. I used these websites to help me, and it works. Why would you want to spends weeks learning tricks for the SAT when you can learn new words and skills that you can use even AFTER you take the SAT. Trust me, you want to be honest and you want to study, that's the ONLY way to improve on your scores. Here are some good websites that will help you improve your verbal skills:

Good luck

For best results, you have to combine both processes. Yes, you need to learn how to take the SAT (it really is a strategy), and yes, you need a strong reading/comprehension background. What I used to get an 800 on both reading/writing sections was www.smartdoodle.com (and it's free, unlike the first link posted in this thread)
Your study plan should really depend on your timeline and your expected score increase. |
