Hi Kalon

The word why refers to a reason, purpose or cause.

The word what is used in a number of different ways, but basically it refers to a thing.

Hi!
Doesn't it have to be: She wants to know how DO you like your coffee? And why if not?

Hi Kalon

I agree with Yankee when she said that why refers to a reason and what refers to a thing, an animal etc. Furthermore, when you asked what, you will never put direct object behind verb. For example: what do you like? you cannot say "what do you like your coffee?" if you say so, it means that you ask and answer the question at the same time.

Hope that my explanation will work

Regards
Thu

No, because then you would be combining a sentence with a question. The word "do" in that definition is typically only used for questions.

So far, I have noticed that your explanations make a lot of sense Speedtest, and you seem to be a native speaker of English, but there you must have meant 'statement' instead of 'sentence'.
