We usually ask for advice but who you prefer to talk with, a family member or a friend? and Why?

In my case, I tell almost everything that happens to me to my Mom or my husband, but most of us have a secret Rolling Eyes , I guess Shocked , and there are some secrets I prefer to share with a friend who always listens to me, the kind of friends that you can count with your fingers.

What about you? What's your opinion? Very Happy
Cristina.

I seldom talked to my parents about those things, because for some reason they weren't very good listeners or advice givers, except in business matters. They have died now, and I have only one family member I can talk to about problems, which is my older sister. My brother has estranged himself from the family, for reasons we don't know, so we don't talk. One of my other siblings may listen and give good advice, but she also files all the information away in her mind and may use it later to embarrass or hurt me or someone else.

For that reason, besides my older sister, I have to go to friends. I have VERY good friends, but they are something like my parents, in that they are better at listening and advising in work and business matters, and not in other types of personal matters. We nonetheless talk about everything anyway.

Most of the time I figure out solutions to the problems myself.

Hi Cristina
Jamie (K) sorry about your parents

I prefer to talk with my friends, about my problems
Sometimes I ask for advice to my parents, but it happens very seldom..
Anyway most of my problems I have to solve on my own

Hi all,

I see all are sad here, what's happening? As for talking with a friend or family member, I prefer my friends. Not for my parents can't understand me or something like this, I don't know..But generally, I talk to my best friend because she's like me and a very good adviser:) In any case, it's better to solve own problems myself, the reason is if I follow the advice given by others even when I don't want to do it, at the end I'll regret why I did that in this way.So, my own mistakes can teach me to live and be strong. hmm.. I'm very bad girl:( I always make mistakes..becasue I do what I think is right-for my own opinion..
