You seem to show little sympathy for ESL teachers, the choice of location may not always be determined by the individual, what of connections to the location? People move ore than just for a job.

I didn't write "always", I talked about most native-speaking ESL teachers.

Where does the over-enthusiasm of ESL teachers stem from do you think?

The need to be in fashion, liked, etc.

Hi

Always or most still is a majority.
Any statistics to back up your claim?
Or just a fashion in your country?

Some schools will attract a certain kind of teacher, if they can not find the right ones maybe they are looking in the wrong places.

A teacher has to be successfull ,and to some extent liked; especially as ESL teachers.
Because any school worth itīs salt will listen to the feedback of the clients, wont they.
The choice of a ESL trainer who does not follow this route means s/he are in a very comfortable position.
The market and reputation if you wish to stay anywhere for any time means you have to be of a certain quailty.
Those schools we choose to take on any teacher, maybe have the wrong standards for recruitment, donīt you think.

ESL teachers are fashionable, really with the clothes they wear.
What makes them need to be fashionable? Again your bones are rather bare.
How and in what way are they fahsionable?
Is it the high footballers wages they get?
The modelling jobs they do?

Well 7 years in the business, and there is no denying that some ESL teachers are as you say.

But the majority of my colleagues that have stuck around, and are career ESL teachers/trainers, as opposed to someone trying it out or passing through develop their own style.
We are quite different in approach and are open to change or developments in our business field.

This is your observation, and I think we will just have to agree to disagree.
