Nowadays, food has become easier to prepare. Has this change improved
the way people live? Use specific reasons and examples to support your
answer.

Human beings have reached a lot of significant accomplishments recent decades. These achievements also affect cooking area as well. It is impossible to deny the benefits such convenient things as microwave oven, easy-to-cook food, fast food, artificial flavorings and so on have brought about; However, they are not without drawbacks seriously hitting our life.

First, artificial ingredients in today’s food are not always harmless to our health. We could easily notice that fast food and easy-to-cook one often contain artificial ingredients such as preservatives, flavorings and so forth so that they could be kept longer and fresher. It is reported that many of these things are really dangerous to human health because they are the cause of a number of lethal diseases, for example cancer, heart disease… That is not to mention the fact that instead of vitamin and mineral rich food, precooked or fast food usually comprises a lot of calories easily leading to obesity, an increasing concern of today’s society. Generally, not only nutrients does progressive science produces but it also causes head-achy problems to our health.

Second, due to the invention of modern cooking utensils, no longer is culinary an art. In the past, cooking was considered a profound art related to human soul. It can help people feel relax and find relief from tensions. However, with the wide use of such advanced equipments as microwave oven, electric cooker among others, it takes no time and effort to prepare for meal. People are too busy with other supposedly more important issues. Just put raw foods into a cooker or a microwave oven, you will have a meal after a few minutes. Yet it cannot have be as natural and original as that in the past. In some cases, it cannot express the care of the cooks. Simply put it, culinary has lost its true meaning, giving its seat to other priorities.

In addition, without well and carefully prepared meals, people lose their precious occasions to get together. Preparing time for meals makes people feel loose and easy. During these occasions, they can exchange recipes, freely talking, knowing each other better. Through this way, relations among family members or friends are strengthened and boosted. Without these get-togethers, consequently people only work without naturally and leisurely communicating with each other.

All in all, despite many advantages of modern cooking, it is impossible to ignore its bad side which could result in many problems.
