your question is quite difficult to answer because everyone has a different method of learning and remembering grammar rules.
Sometimes there are phrases like:
'He, she, it - the 's' must fit'
which means that a verb must always have an 's'-ending when it is used with he, she or it.

I go but he goes
you play but she plays

Try to practise a little - that always helps!

It's always good to keep a balance between learning grammar rules and learning word combinations (such as strong collocations) and phrases (such as idioms) by heart. So, once you have learned a grammar rule you should read texts and listen to authentic English to see how this rule is applied.
