Hi,

Do you suffer or have you ever suffered from affluenza?

A

PS A definition of 'affluenza':

Quote:
The Affluenza virus is a set of values which increase our vulnerability to psychological distress: placing a high value on acquiring money and possessions, looking good in the eyes of others and wanting to be famous. Many studies have shown that infection with the virus increases your susceptibility to the commonest mental illnesses: depression, anxiety, substance abuse and personality disorder.

I think everyone suffers from affluenza anytime as it is defined in your quote anytime. The task is to find out what your limits are. And that might be quite painful.

Just if one can?t find their limits out it can lead to a mental illness!

My humble opinion

Michael

Affluenza, in its most disgusting form, leads city-dwellers to buy Sport Utility Vehicles... which seem to be almost completely impractical in urban areas.

(sorry... small pet peeve of mine. I'm mostly into free enterprise and freedom of choice -- buying/selling choice, at least -- but SUVs make little to no sense to me, at least in the aforementioned context.)

Of course, four-wheel drive can come in handy in adverse conditions. I could see the need for one in Moscow, maybe. hehe

I tend to hold onto and use things much longer than a lot of people I know. Sometimes I probably put off replacing things too long. I hate to throw away or replace things that are still perfectly functional -- which explains my 20-year-old pocketbook, I suppose.

Amy

Well if it's a Prada and made of lizard (I have no idea what I'm talking about... purses aren't really my bag), I suppose you could do worse than to have a 20-year-old purse.

hehe
