Hello Kathrin

In my own words:
A venture is a plan one or more persons plan to set in action, an undertaking. You have certainly heard the term "joint venture"? In the business world it means that two companies will cooperate on something.

A threat is the potential of something negative that will possibly happen and maybe someone even announces it to you that he/she will make it happen..with some conditions attached. In case of the test question, the famine is a threat because the people in those Third World countries often border on not having enough food to survive.
