Call this the food topic... revisited.

I'm going to start by posting the two best sandwiches I've ever eaten.

Both were purchased from the now-defunct Danica's Deli. I miss you, Danica.

----

#1
Pastrami
Swiss cheese
Sauerkraut
1000 Island/Mayonnaise mixture
Pumpernickel(or -le) rye bread

I must have eaten one of these every other day. It was grilled 'til warm/gooey on the inside and crispy on the outside. I used to order an extra cup of that wonderful sauce for dipping.

#2
Turkey
Havarti cheese
Tomato
Cream Cheese
Mayonnaise
Sourdough bread

This was my back-up, if I didn't feel like eating her fabulous pastrami sandwich. This was also melt-in-your-mouth good. Like the pastrami sandwich, it was grilled.

------------------------

So I suppose this topic (officially) is for the listing of your favorite sandwiches. Of course deviations from that mission will not be punished. Yak away.

Favorite ice cream:

Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie

The choice of title is a sort of euphemism for what its title (more) truly should have been:

"Tom's 'I'm Hungry!' Topic"

Hi Tom!

Are you related to Kevin James alias Doug Heffernan? Kevin/Doug also shows a ravenous appetite to sandwiches in "King of Queens". Might be he can offer you some more good prescriptions for them. Wink

I bet he could, Michael.

Kevin James (assuming he lives in NYC) lives in what may be the Sandwich Capital of the World, or at least the Giant Sandwich Capital of the World.

I've been to NYC a couple of times. On one of those trips I went to a place called Roxy Deli. There I ordered a plain turkey sandwich. I kid you not, that sandwich was six inches tall. I could not get my mouth around that height to take a full bite.

What's the best sandwich you've ever eaten, and what's your dream sandwich (if you have one in mind)?

----------------

Favorite pizza: Chicago-style deep dish. The sauce goes on top.

Hi Tom!

I don?t have any favourite Sandwich but like the variety in which sandwich-like snacks are offered here in Germany. There are Burgers by MC D, Baguettes by bakers, D?ner by Turkish snack-bars, Ciabatta and so on......and so on...... So it?s hard to decide for a certain one.

And, of course, I enjoy Pizza again and again. Very Happy

Your sandwich #1 sounds absolutely yummy, Tom. I've never tried pastrami (you'll laugh at me, but there I was thinking all along that it was some kind of American Italian salami -- and it turns out to be a Jewish speciality that's got nothing to do with that!), but the combination sounds great. What kind of Swiss cheese did they use?

One of my favourite sandwiches is falafel, especially the one they sell in a small shop of the Basta aerea in West Beirut.

Conchita

I don't know what kind of swiss queso was on that sandwich... only that it was *perfect*.

If I weren't such a bad cook, I'd mix that sauce myself... the 1000 Island/mayo mixture.

Just in case you ask me Rolling Eyes I must admit that I?m the "Chicken-type" (Gaaack..Gaaack). So the Mc Chicken with green salad and some r?moulade and provided the sandwich is quite fresh is my favourite by Mc D`s.

On the other hand Mc D always creates special offers for some weeks. Now the special theme her is called "H?ttengaudi" where Mc D offers a Burger with special swiss "queso"! Like every Burger you can eat it, but for me it?s not that delicious. So I?m waiting what they offer next. I consider it my duty of honor to test it. Laughing
