Do fountains and buds "burst open"?

I would like to know if "burst open" and "break open" are the correct verbs for natural fountains and buds?

1- A new fountain is reported to have burst open in this desert.

2- Thousands of buds break open everyday in this garden.

3- Thousands of buds burst open everyday in this garden.

Do we agree?

Hi Tom,

I would say buds can both break open or burst open, although the latter seems more appropriate. As for fountains I would suggest 'gush up' or 'gush out of'.

Buds can also sprout and springs spurt, I think (it sounds like a pronunciation drill).
