TOEFL essay sample: why are groups and organizations so important to people Fri Feb 02, 2007 11:15 am  TOEFL essay sample: why are groups and organizations so important to people

Two heads are better than one. Ever since primitive society, human beings are always found gather together to form groups or organizations in various forms and later cooperate in agriculture, industry, and all trades. Why are groups or organizations so important to people? The reasons may be explored from the following aspects.

From the psychological and mental perspective, people can eliminate the feel of loneliness and alienation only through company and acknowledgement from others. Men are social animals in nature. A man’s life without any social interaction with others is unimaginable. In this sense, men are always seeking an attachment or a tie to certain groups or organizations. A case in point is that many people join in a political party or group according to their beliefs. By doing so, not only do they feel like part of a whole, but grow more passionate and purposeful.

Socially speaking, by forming and signing up in groups or organizations, members can share and communicate their information and resources, thereby promoting the development of these entities or even the whole trade. To illustrate, teachers in a region often establish some associations or forums where they may voice and exchange their views concerning teaching and researching, which for sure will benefit the sound development of teaching and scientific research in this region.

Last but by no means the least, groups allow people to pool their resources together to make certain things more affordable. Many travelers favor package tours over traveling alone in that hotels and airline companies are more willing to give discount in exchange for group business. Many modern suburban neighborhoods have formed car pools to share and lower the cost to get to and from the city. There is indeed truth in the saying “It’s cheaper by the dozen”.

On the whole, groups and organizations can benefit their members with psychological, social, and financial edges. In this increasingly competitive society, there is strength in numbers, while a lonely wolf will never walk long.

HI,

Two heads are better than one. Ever since primitive society, human beings are always TO BE found gatherED together to form groups or organizations in various forms and later cooperate in agriculture, industry, and all trades. Why are groups or organizations so important to people? The reasons may be explored from the following aspects.

From the psychological and mental perspective, people can eliminate the feelING of loneliness and alienation only through company and acknowledgement from others. Men are social animals BY nature. A man’s life without any social interaction with others is unimaginable. In this sense, men are always seeking an attachment or a LINK to certain groups or organizations. A case in point is that many people join a political party or group according to their beliefs. By doing so, not only do they feel like part of a whole, but grow more passionate and purposeful.

Socially speaking, by forming and signing up in groups or organizations, members can share and communicate their information and resources, thereby promoting the development of these entities or even the whole trade. To illustrate, teachers in a region often establish some associations or forums where they may voice and exchange their views concerning teaching and researching, which will DEFINITELY benefit the sound development of teaching and scientific research in this region.

Last but by no means least, groups allow people to pool their resources together to make certain things more affordable. Many travelers favor package tours over traveling alone in that hotels and airline companies are more willing to give A discount in exchange for group business. Many modern suburban neighborhoods have formed car pools to share and lower the cost to get to and from the city. There is indeed truth in the saying “It’s cheaper by the dozen”.

On the whole, groups and organizations can benefit their members with psychological, social, and financial ASPECTS. In this increasingly competitive society, there is strength in numbers, while a lonely wolf will never walk long.

Smile Thank you, Alan.
But I wonder why "to be" should be inserted after "always" in the second sentence of the first paragraph.
And I would be greatly grateful if you can score my work according to the scoring system in TOEFL. Thanks again!

TOEFL essay sample: why are groups and organizations so important to people Sat Oct 06, 2007 22:02 pm  TOEFL essay sample: why are groups and organizations so important to people

Hi,

This is my essay version for this question. Please kindly check it. Thanks before.

Human is a social creature. This means that human can not live alone! They need other person to help and complete each other. Can you imagine what would it be if there is no farmer to give you fresh fruits and vegetables? And what if seamstress never exists? Do we able to live without others people around us? The answer is: definitely not!

The fact that we need other will lead us to form a group or organization. Commonly group or organization is built based on the needs to achieve the same goal. All of the member will work together hand in hand to achive that goal. Other advantage of being in a group is that you can have a place to express your thought and interest.

Let us take a simple example, an “English Club”. It is a club that consists of a bunch of peoples who have the same interest and goal, which is to learn and practice English together. Each member of the club will help each other to improve and develop their English skill. Therefore if you have problem in learning English, you can ask for help and support from others in the group.

Group usually has a strong bound among all the members, because they have some similarity with others. That’s why we can have lots of good friends by joining a group. It is always good to have as many good friends as you can. Especially when you know that both of you have the same interest, by being in the same group or organization.

To sum up, human beings need each other! That’s why the presence of a group or organization is very important as we all need a place to share the same idea, and get support from peoples who has the same goal with us.
