Hi

In Russian, when we need to say, for example, 'I’ve been doing it during the last two days/weeks/ (and today is the third day/week/ while I’m doing this.)
we just say 'I’ve been doing this the third day/week.'

But, I suppose, in English it should be said someway differently... to not be confusing…

How do/would you normally express that?

you could say either:

This is the third day/week I've been doing this.

or:

I've been doing this for three days/weeks (now).

This - this...
You've replaced my today by the second this, does it actually sound better?

'Today' is the third day' sounds a bit repetitive, but it's okay otherwise (I know I repeat 'this' in my sentence, but I'd replace the second one by the actual activity). Now, I wouldn't say 'today is the third week' (a mathematical question, mainly), though it's just my opinion.

Not only replaced today by this but also changed the tense. You see.

For me, "I have been doing it for the last three days today." is the best solution.

Thank you for the explanation.

You are right...

I agree, 'Today is the week' certainly would be a language violence.
('Today is The Day' or 'Today is Friday' seem to be a bit more acceptable, though. :) )
