Portfolio Management :

SEBI has also enacted regulations to regulate the working of portfolio managers.

What is the meaning of `enacted' and `portfolio' in this sentence?

Could anyone explain the same?

Hi learning_english
Enacted means 'established'(enacted regulations have legal effect) and 'portfolio manager' is an investor of institutional funds or manager of accounts for multiple individuals.

In your sentence I don't quite understand whether 'enacted' is an adjective or Participle II( has enacted). 8) I am inclined to believe it's an adjective but others may have another opinion.

Hi,

To me 'enacted' is a verb in the sentence since 'also' is placed after the auxiliary 'has'. I believe you would have two constructions:

It has also enacted (verb) regulations.

It also has enacted (adjective) regulations.
