When to take the GRE® exam? Before of after september change?

Hi everyone,

I guess this is should be a common question for next test takers, including myself.
So, I expect this turns into a useful discussion.

I?ve been reading in www.grecenter.com about the future changes, and they recommend to take before the changes apply. They argue the new exam will be larger and more difficult.

On the other hand, I wonder what would be the policy in the admission depts. in the next 1/2/3 years. I mean how will apply the 5-year validity of the exam.

I guess the answer is obvious for those ones who are ready to apply for grad school, and for those who still have 2+ years left.
But I wonder what would be the best choice for those ones (there I am), who will apply in 1-2 years, and have large check list on their way.

Any thoughts?

I think whether it's more difficult will depend on your own personal skills on each of the question types. There are several articles about the changes here: http://www.princetonreview.com/grad/testprep/testprep.asp?TPRPAGE=925&TYPE=GRE There's a chart comparing the two tests. I personally can't stand the analogies and stink at geometry, so I already prefer the new test!!

Schools will take the old one for at least two years, I am sure. I don't know about the full five years, though. The changes are pretty big.
