HI,
All people who are well-qualified for any kind of job should work. At least they should try to find a job that suits their qualifications. However, according to me, it is not a good idea for businesses to have the same employee for lMANY years as well as for employees to keep the same occupation for theIR whole life. The world is changing so the needs of both companies and employees change. Besides, in my opinion working for the same company damages the existing competences and doES not to lead to generate new ones both for the employees and the company. Throughout this essay, I will try to figure out my reasons why I strongly support the argument that businesses should not hire employees for their entire lives.
To begin with, with the rapid change in technology, the competition in business life HAS BECOME more intense both for the companies and employees. While firms are trying to hire the top quality staff in order to realize their business goals, employees are also looking for companies providing them with the best working conditions such as a high salary, high job satisfaction, up-to-date training programmes, and so on. No doubt, in a changing business environment expectations for both sides never remain the same. As a result, if any revisions in terms of expectations need to be made, dismissal or resignation should occur for the future benefits of both sides. For example, two years ago my brother had to quit his job since his company changed its work area from constRUction to retail sector. My brother is a construction engineer so it does not make sense for him and provide him with any benefits for his future career to work for a retail company instead of a construction company. The decision FOR quitting HIS job was beneficial both for my brother and his old company.
Secondly, I cannot imagine myself working for the same company till my retirement. If my company has a policy of keeping the employees for their entire lives, I will be working with the same people for years. As a result, I , as well as my company, will not be able to generate new competences. May be my company will provide me with up-to-date training programmes in order to fill the gaps and make me gain new competences. However, what I believe is as long as I face the same people and problems in a particular company, my existing capabilities WILL BE damageD AND as well as THAT I cannot generate new ones. Besides, if there is no refreshment in terms of new employees, thoughts, and even new problems within a company, that company will definItely lOse its competences. As a result, the company can lose its customers or even can go bankrupT. For example, I had a traineeship at a local company. My human resource manager was working for that company for almost 15 years. Therefore, after thinking for a long time, he quit his job hence he was always suffering from less creativeness within the company. A few moNTHS after he gave up his job, the company went bankrupT.
In conclusion, it is very usual that people will look at this issue from different angles since their past experiences are quite distinct in terms of THEIR workING life. However, as a newly graduated student, I AM strongly in favor of the idea that companies should not keep the same employees for their whole lives if both companies and staff want to adapt themselves into a changing business life soon.
