Hi Julian,
I heard that Canada is one of archipelago country just like Indonesia. Do you live near the ocean? How is the ocean and the beach in Canada? Since I live in Indonesia, so far I only have seen tropical ocean and beaches.

Hi, Genia;
While it is true that there are many islands around Canada, particularly on the northern (Arctic Ocean) and western (Pacific Ocean) coasts, most of Canada's area is one continuous land mass, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. It is the second largest country in the world (9,984,670 square km), behind Russia (17,075,200 square km), and just ahead of the United States of America (9,631,418 square km). The United States, our neighbour to the south, is the only country with which Canada shares a border, the longest undefended border in the world.
I have visited both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, and like them both very much, for different reasons. Canada's Atlantic coast was the first to be settled by Europeans, and the settlement and ensuing conflicts between colonizing nations resulted in some very interesting history and architecture (buildings and military posts). The coast itself has a variety of shorline types, from very high cliffs to beaches. The winters are cold, with lots of snow and ice, and the summers are warm. Because there is so much history and so much to see, it is a very popular part of the country for tourists. Halifax is the capital city of Nova Scotia, one of the east coast provinces; it is about 1900 km from my city, near Toronto.
I have seen only a very small part of the Pacific coast, in the area of the city of Vancouver (about 4500 km from my city), and Vancouver Island, but it is very pretty; the Rocky Mountain range runs down the coastline, and seeing the mountains and the ocean together is wonderful for me, since I live in a comparatively flat part of the country.
I have met some people here from Indonesia; it sounds like a very beautiful place, and I hope to see it myself some day.
