Hi Stew,

I think doing webquests is a very effective learning/teaching method because it helps practice and improve a variety of skills. It probably requires some additional preparation and a certain infrastructure.
Have you ever tried them out in your classrooms?

Hi guys as promised the up-date

So the webquest went really well. I have the second session this week. I designed it as a business trip/holiday where they had to make all the arrangements for going to the UK
Conference centre
Flight
Hotel
Theatre
Cinema
and 10 days hols in South England
Sending me an e-mail as the boss.
The small group (6 split into three pairs) really got their teeth into it.
Will let ya know the results after the next lesson.

Hi
The update is back.
So second session was last Friday and have now received all mail.

The stuff was real good not just from an English sense but also from a business skills sense.

I have proof read the e-mails and we will follow up with some grammar and replies.

Also gonna do a comparative analysis of the business trip by giving the finished ones to another group.
As well as a 360 degree feedback session.

Hi Stew,

Just to recap -- you have been working with a group of students who have access to the Internet at school and instead of running the conventional type of class you gave them a project: organizing a business trip to the UK. So, they had to go online, shop for flights, hotel bookings, entertainment, the works. They had to email you the results and you replied to their emails, presented the group results and discussed them. Is this what you did? If so, could you please give me more details as to how you outlined the project to your students, did you give them handouts or other materials? How did they come up with the websites and what did they write in their emails? What level of English are your students and what is their professional background?

This sounds really interesting.
Thanks,
Torsten
