How do you cope with stress? Mon Mar 05, 2007 22:03 pm  How do you cope with stress?

Good evening everybody!

Let's talk about stress. Do you have any? If so, what causes it and how are you coping with stress?

I wish you a relaxed time.

Thanks,
Torsten

How are you coping with stress? Tue Mar 06, 2007 17:01 pm  How are you coping with stress?

Hi Torsten,

This is a really interesting topic. I've been thinking all day long after reading your topic and decided to share my experience.

I didn't know I had one until I went to see a doctor a couple of weeks ago. I had a constant headache(not all the time but returning headache)and I was vomitting and collapsing everytime performing my prayer(apparently I cannot stand very long) I had to do it by sitting. Thanks to my roommate, she finally got me to see the doctor. The doctor told me sometimes people do not know that they are under stress and in my case denial.Ha ha.

I run after my morning prayer and this has never failed me. Running is good and I also walk about 20 to 25 minutes every night on my way home (very cold though) and I make sure I eat sufficiently.

I think people get tired of the same environment and worrying whether or not they can perform up to their expectations. Truthfully, I don't know how to worry less (I'm a worrier)but I try my best to live a healthy lifestyle.

And yes, surrounding oneself around the loved ones also help I guess.Being religious too. When I was back in Malaysia I like sleeping on the couch in our prayer/reading room and I always see my father praying and chanting from 2 or 3 in the morning until after the sunrise. I don't know how to say this humbly but he is the most serene person and the most patient man I've ever met.He always advises me to do the same but I am too sleepy or lazy.

What about you? Do you have any tips in combatting stress?

Well, I usually make efforts not to fall under stress. My attitude towards any critical situation or problem (than can cause stress) is optimistic . At least I do my best not to lose my serenity keeping in mind the statement:nerve cells never restore. By and large, I usually had stress a day or two before any of my exams but not on the Judgment Day. Laughing A friend of mine told me that he practises auto-traing in case of stress. Maybe, that's an effective method, too. Wink

I usually cope with my stress in a funny way Very Happy . I read jokes, listen to music and sing songs. If these don't work now and then, I will do something else. I would take a walk, rest where all around me is surrounded by trees. I would concentrate on the wind blowing, the leaves shaking and the blue sky. I need my body and mind to rest well in a moment. I guess we have different ways to deal with our stress and one that works for one person may not work for the other. Smile But at least we'll have a try.

hi everyone:

In fact i am facing stress and i feel nervous at present. I need to give a speech in english in a coference. I have prepared it for several days but i am afraid i will make some mistakes tomorrow. God bless me. where is God now?

After tomorrow my job will have a brief pause. so i told myself:"anyway the day after tomorrow is coming at last."

BTW . In fact most of the time i can do nothing i just suck it up. I know it is not a good idea, but what could i do? At most i go to gym and spend hours there. Some of the time shopping or eating is helpful.

Stress comes to us regularly everyday, every moment,... I think that we can not avoid it. Therefore, The best way is live with stress. WHAT DO YOU THINK??
We have a lot of ways to relax such as playing game, listening to music, going out, traveling, .... These activities bring us out of stress for a moment, they are temporary solutions after all the causes of stress are not solved.
However, we are trying to release it as much as possible, even in a short term.
