There is always room for one more at the fireside.

Please explain this sentence. (particularly the bold ones)

I just did this for someone (else?) with a different sentence. Double-posting wastes my energies. 'There is always space available in front of the fireplace for one more person (or dog, pot of stew, etc)'.
