Hi

Could you please simplify the red lines to me? I would be grateful.

Quote:
We of the older generation, have had our trials, but I wish to forget them tonight in the company of my friends, particularly the young, and to touch, if I may, the fresher springs of inspiration in their hearts, for it is they who will henceforth have to bear the burden of our aspirations.

We of the older generation have been tested and challenged by life, but tonight, in the company of my friends, particularly young people, I want to forget about that. If you will allow it, I want to examine (or discuss) newer sources of inspiration in their hearts. I want to do this, because from now on it is these young people who will have to pay the price (or suffer the results) of the goals that we older people had.
