I take it you are also into self-development? You probably have read English books about success strategies and personal growth? Do you have a favourite one?
Have you ever been to a Pho24 restaurant and if so, what do you think of it?
By the way, how and where did you learn English and how often to you use the language? |
To Torsten,
Self-development is what I have been focusing on for more than 2 years and I intend to keep doing about it, not only to help myself but also to make it popular and share with others.
In Vietnam, there're some new brandnames emerging regarding 'Pho' (big noodle, right?) such as: Pho 24, Pho Ngon (delicious Pho), Pho Hoa (Harmonized Pho), Pho Vuong (square Pho)... among which, I've just been to Pho Ngon Restaurant. I think they are much similar to each other and are all very delicious, traditional. Just a little point is that they are a little bit expensive for me
About my English, my friends often ask me how and where I studied English. My answer is that I was fond of English songs since childhood. I studied English through them. Besides, I followed some English courses, most of which were small scale and highly efficient classes; and now just self-studying.
I dont use English very often because I dont have many opportunities. Now it's time for me to improve my language for a further study and work. By the way, I'm 24 years old and I guess I'm much younger than you, right? How about you? What are you mainly doing beside ESL?
Talking to you is very interesting for me, Torsten.

Thank you for ... remembering me . I was enrolled in school activities, so I couldn't visit this site but check my mails. You know, I am in 12th grade and I am going to take 2 important exams: the high school graduation and the entrance university exam, which will take place in June and July. So, Trung Nguyen Coffee Company is the company you wanted to know. It is a well-known brand in VN. If you visit VN, I promise to buy you a cup of Trung Nguyen coffee every day . I don't know what the name of the fast food chain you're referring to is. Maybe it's Pho - noodles. But I am wondering whether Pho is fast food .
Talk to you soon, Tortoise |
Hi Tortoise,
What are you going to study? As for your invitation, I already look forward to having coffee with you at Trung Ngugen's. By the way, I've noticed that Ngugen is a very common name in Vietnam. What does it mean? And yes you are right, I was referring to Pho Noodles -- have you ever been there?

Yes Hieu, I am quite a couple of years older than you but believe me, I still remember the time I was your age very vividly . As for your English, do you have access to English language TV channels? What about MP3 files and other audio resources? I'm asking because I consider listening the most important language activities when it comes to improving one's English. Regarding my job, I mainly for companies that need some fresh ideas regarding their staff's training and further education.

Dear Tortoise,
Nice to meet you and talk with you about Vietnam and Hanoi.
I think Hanoian is not a standard usage of English but just a slang expression. About the traffic and environment in Hanoi, I think it's just my opinion. I think and feel they are the most terrible things. Of course, I didn't mean it to be in comparison with other cities or countries. Just my feeling about Hanoi. By the way, what about the South? I had some chances to visit Ho Chi Minh city, Danang, Vung Tau, Binh Duong but all the trips were very short. Do you mind telling something about your land in your view?
Regards,
Leuleu |
I live in An Giang. I think you know Chau Doc which is famous for its Sam Mount and the Visiting The Landlady of Sam Mount Festival. This place is peace and comfortble. There is not so much traffic as HCMC. Also the people are friendly. Yeah, the food is especially good with a lot of kinds. Hope that you will have a chance to visit Chau Doc.

(I was wrong when using enrolled so I replaced it with involed.)
Dear Torsten, I intend to apply for the University of Economics or University of Banking. You know Vietnam has become a member of WTO, which will lead to more chances and more jobs to be opened.

To Torsten,
The word 'Nguyen' in 'Trung Nguyen' is 'Nguy?n' which means the 'Land' (or Delta = Trung Nguy?n). The name 'Nguyen' that you referred to is 'Nguyễn' (a little bit different in the accent of the word), is a very common name, exactly is the surname (or family name). The reason why there are a lot of Vietnamese have this surname because the 'Nguyễn' Dynasty was the last reign of Vietnam during the feudal times in Vietnam.
My full name is Bui Tran Hieu. So, my surname is 'Bui' (B?i), middle name is 'Tran' (Trần), and first name is 'Hieu' (Hiếu). And, what are your full names, Torsten, Torstoise? |
