Difference between 'to' and 'for'

Hello all,

Can you all please help me out with the following. I am really confused with the following sentence:

i) Lets be Number One for the customer.
ii) Lets be Number One to the customer.

Which of the above sentences is correct (With reference to a company) ?
What does each sentence mean ?
And above all whether the sentence is correct or not ?

What my opinion is that 'to' is used for a sense of direction....
Please help me out.
