Phrases: ...lost on/to/in...

I need opinion on these sentences with "lost on/to/in" phrases.

1. 'The opportunity was lost to him'. 'The opportunity was lost on him.' -- Yes,these have different meanings. 'Lost to him' = he could no longer have the opportunity, he missed his chance; 'lost on him' = he ignored it or wasted it or it was of no value to him, etc.

2. 'I got lost in him'. I understand this sentence in a romantic way but can it also mean "I don't understand him"? -- No, I don't think so. 'He lost me' means 'I no longer understand what he is saying'.
