Explanation of "come by one's ignorance" #1 (permalink) Thu Mar 15, 2007 12:13 pm   Explanation of "come by one's ignorance"

Could you explain me the meaning of "having come by their ignorance" as in this saying:

Beware of the man who works hard to learn something,
learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is
full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant
without having come by their ignorance the hard way

TIA, Lost soul

Hi Lost_soul

Come by = acquire/obtain/get

Does that answer your question?

Amy
