I want to study Mechanics. I am studying in Soeul National University, Mechanics and Aerospace of Engineering.
I think certainly that I take the possibility of success after studying in the U.S.
Year after year, my friends would go the U.S university, MIT, Standford, etc. |

Hi gq,
Why do you think it will be better for you if you study at a US university? What is the difference between Seoul National University and Standford, MIT, etc.? _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Sorry, I had typo// "Seoul" is correct. not soeul (Seoul is capital of South Korea)
Seoul Nat. Univ. is the best of university in south Korea to all fields. but Korea had the tendency that high academic backgound is only importance. So I want better my life in korea. |

But why not study in South Korea? Why do you think studying in the US will improve your situation in Korea? I take it you plan to study in the US and then go back to your country? _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Actually, Korea is small. and not powerful country. So many Korean study very hard.
In addition, an academic[educational] background is very, very important in Korea. and most people think that "Only English fluent" |

Hi, I am a new member and was lead to your discussion by a random search. The reason why many Koreans prefer to study in the US rather than staying in Korea or even moving any other country is that the Korean enterprise highly admire the corresponding educational institues. This is likely because most of the current CEOs and high-rank officers have received their education from the US. On the other hand, many people believe that the Korean educational system (though when talking about SNU which is likely the best insitute here in Korea), is not comparable to the US institution. This of course has nothing to do with the fact that the graduates of SNU or any other institute will be likely working in Korea; but it will have a great impact when considering the above reason (i.e., presumed love ^^). |
