Hi Dorra

Yes, based on the context provided, I'd say both of your options would be very appropriate.

However, you cannot necessarily say that the sentence is incorrect with 'will'. Perhaps the author of the sentence might be willing to add some additional context to the test sentence to illustrate why 'will' was used.
