I think it depends on the openness of the society/culture in which one lives:
There are cultural "norms" -- or at least popular choices -- in America, but one is more or less free to do what (s)he pleases.
Conversely, there are places on earth in which one has little to no choice concerning how one lives.
Such cultural/legal constraints would have much to do with how one "chose" to believe/live.
(Though I suppose there are people who profess to believe one thing to avoid being shot, yet believe something totally different in their hearts. So it is that what you show is not always what you really feel/think/believe.) _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |

I think that it's more better or more worse. If I were to live in the U.S., I can speak English fluently but it's or not. |

Hi Torsten, I think you didn't ask our preferences on where to live or what to do, but you wanted us to imagine a different life for ourselves.
If I had been born in a Christian country, I would probably have been a Christian, because religion is not something that you can choose after you get to a certain age. It is something you learn from the people around you. For me, life of someone doesn't change very much because of religion, if you are honest, it is good for every religions. Religions-not only one special religion- do want people to be honest, to help people in need, to respect others especially the elderly, etc. and all of them do want us not to lie, not to steal from people, etc. So, if I had been born in any country, I would have been the same Aydın, because I am happy to be what I am now. Best wishes, Aydın |

i think it will be interesting to live the life of someone else because you'll know how other people from different religions live
for instance, i have a friend she's christian but living in an Islamic country she knows all about islam and she doesn't find anything difficult about that |

Sometimes I had thought about it,I love this country, our food, our people,we are kind, caring, symphathizing ..if I had to change something it would be our mentality,we tend to be very negative about our future,at least most peruvians to be honest, and that's the principal thing that don't let us grow as a country,as human beings, we need to believe in us,to feel sure that we can be better people, that we can leave something better to future generations and let bad experiences in the past, just as that," bad experiences "that will be an example of what not to do.Cris. _________________ Brains like hearts go where they are appreciated. |

I believe each of us tend to see the life he lives as the norm. I as a young man, I sought what I believed, questioned what I had been taught. I was raised to be a Protestant Christian but have now become an Orthodox Christian. As an American from the southeastern part of the USA, the secular views of my society taught me to question what I had been taught. It is paradoxical, the openness of my society has lead me to understand and seek out that which is traditional.
All people are the same. There are individuals of each nationality that pray, fast, and seek to become more than they are. There are those who live to create peace and concord. Unfortunately, there are the greedy, and those who also have little regard of others.
I work in a hospital and care for patients. I could not imagine being fulfilled doing work that didn’t serve others. By serving others I find dignity. There are so many situations one can find himself in; poverty, rich, rural, urban, but in any society when one begins to care for others, he begins to see the world beyond the selfish. There is no life without others, relationships. |
