Hi Tom
'Plain water' doesn't really work because that only suggests that nothing has been added to the water. Why not just say 'cool water'?
I know the water that comes out of my faucet is much colder than lukewarm.

you can vary the level of coolness (the expression thereof, as it pertains to the water's temperature and how you perceive it) of the water thusly:
very hot hot somewhat hot very warm warm somewhat warm lukewarm somewhat cool cool very cool somewhat cold cold very cold
You can choose your own adjectives to modify the levels within hot/warm/cold.
The only word (to my knowledge) for average-temperature water -- neither hot nor cold, sort of firmly in the middle -- is "lukewarm". _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |

The temperature of the water that comes out of my tap, Amy, depends on which knob I turn (now that my water heater works). hehe _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |

hehe
At the moment, I'm living in a house that was built in 1901 and the plumbing may well be the same vintage. When I turn a knob with an 'H' on it, I get "C water" for quite some time -- exactly how long depends on where in the house the "H knob" I decide to turn is located. _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

That sort of brings new (opposite) meaning to "they just don't make 'em like they used to", huh? _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |

Yep. It's one of those old houses where if someone flushes a toilet while you're in the shower, you might end up with second degree burns. _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

gotta love that
that is one reason to keep intra-house relationships harmonious -- fear of toilet/shower retribution. _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |
