With this project we are going to support people who want to practice their speaking skills by using Skype, IP telephony and other Internet technologies. Of course we could simply create an ad saying that we are offering online English lessons via Skype, indicating the lesson hours, quote a price and contact details of the teachers. However, we want to create a system that is useful to all involved parties: Learners, coaches, trainers/teachers and other professionals.

Our objective is to help our clients learn English rather than trying to teach them. The first step toward that goal is to create professional profile pages that give prospective clients a clear idea of what to expect from the coach/trainer. The professional profile should contain the following components:

  • professional summary
  • photographs
  • audio introduction
  • materials created by the coach
  • service portfolio
  • contact information

As an english-test.net coach you will get an account that comes with the following features:
ESL Professional Account

Hi Torsten

So this mean that you have a consultant, a bit like a language coach?
What about group lessons through the conference function of skype?
Would the students buy bulk lessons as a credit?
What about trainer observation, you could incorporate this so we can improve our consulting?
The big obstacle is the technical side, breaks in connection and so forth. I have experienced this thru xing.
How much interest has been shown so far?
And from which markets?
What about packages (material), the trainers could develop roleplays/simulations/case studies that could be run for a price per head?

This I see as a future niche and a way that supply can meet demand for those areas where trainers do not wish to travel or there are not enough to meet the local requirements.

Blended learning is a good mulit-tasking, inter-disciplinary solution.

Hi Stew,

Yes the idea is to focus on language learning techniques rather than explaining the simple present. With this project we are targeting 'winners', people who understand the basic difference between 'teaching' and 'learning'. The vast majority of people rely on a teacher to teach them the language. This is doesn't work. Our system will consist of several elements the backbone of which will be an e-book on how to learn English. There will be different language versions of the book so we can reach people whose current command of English doesn't allow them to grasp the information contained in the book. We want to provide a service to people whose level of motivation and self-discipline is above average. Instead of explaining the difference between 'much' and 'many' we will compare Executive Vocabulary against Ultimate Vocabulary and Verbal Advantage. We will talk about how to develop one's own learning system that works constantly and independently. We will train people to integrate English into their daily routines instead of wasting their time and money for conventional English classes where they are exposed to wrong grammar and pronunciation produced by their peers.

I still subscribe to traditional learning of English Grammar. I find it very useful learning this way.I love learning the English language so much!I wish I could know everything there is about this language called 'English'.I am teaching English as a Private Tutor.I am doing it on my own without working for any institutions.I find my students benefit much and they are doing well in schools.

Hello Torsten,
I love your idea so much and I am glad to share the English language with people who are interested in it. I am a teacher of English and in the school that I work in I can deal with native American speakers as they are working as English teachers with us too. I don't find any difficulties in speaking to them or in understanding their English language, on the contrary, some of them are close friends to me. The problem is when I watch or listen to English programmes or English movies, I find it difficult to follow some of the actors' parts of speech may be because some of them are speaking too fast or may be because of something else that i don't know.
Anyway, Would you please support me with some English audio websites to listen to?
That will be so kind of you to help.
Thank you

Nola
