I'm going to assume that you want to start in the spring of 2008

If such is the case, apply now. I would imagine -- though I am not certain -- that spring 2008 spots will be decided by the end of summer 2007 or, at the very latest, maybe October 2007.

So I would start working on applications right now.

I do not know whether the GRE or more specialized admissions tests are necessary for your field.

I would try searching your field online.

If that doesn't work, try searching degree programs at individual universities to find out which test is required to enter your chosen discipline.

Here, start with my undergraduate alma mater (hehe):

Try Admissions/Apply (top-middle of the page). That should be a start for finding out which test to take.
