Hi,

Could you please help me with the usage and meaning of 'run over' in the following passage I have come across?

Quote:
She was meditating upon walnut fudge, the plays of Brieux, the reasons why heels run over, and the fact that the chemistry instructor had stared at the new coiffure which concealed her ears.

I guess 'heels' here probably refer to the heels of her shoes. If so, how should I understand 'heels run over'?

Many thanks in advance.

'Heels run over' means 'heels get worn down'.
