Do new technologies and media make us smarter? Tue Mar 27, 2007 0:22 am  Do new technologies and media make us smarter?

With all these new technologies like digital TV, mobile phones, the web and other media, do you think people are becoming smarter? I mean, does technology help us evolve to higher level? I'm asking because I have the impression that many people are using the new media primarily for entertainment. Look at your private TV and radio channels, 90% of the materials they are offering are designed to subdue their consumers.

Maybe all this new technology isn't that useful after all? The Amish people might lead a happier life than we. But then again, I might be wrong. That's why I'd liek to hear your opinion on this.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Torsten,

I do not think that new technology in itself makes anyone smarter. However, I do think different media makes information more readily available to all kinds of people. In the twenty-first century, you can conduct research and find information on almost anything no matter where you are in the World. In conclusion, I do not think new technology makes us smarter, but it certainly enables us to learn more than ever before. But knowledge does not equal intelligence.

Firstly technology enable us to reach our goals faster than yesterday because so much time was consumed to gather information, but now it is a click away.It is useful if you have goals.without it it is nothing more than some entartainment.Secondly we can be inspried by others experiences, the more experiences we know, the more we feel confident and determine our goals easily. In the past we inspired by our close friends and family bu it changes..
