Hello Alan,

I've bought the set of tests and it's been great help! But now I was visiting your site and I couldn't find any other set of ready-to-use material to buy… and I was wondering if I'm not finding it! I'm looking for lesson plans for Conversation classes … so if you have anything please let me know!

BTW… there are many links that are not working in your site, specially on esl caf?.

Thanks a lot!!

First of all I want to thank you for your newsletter. I have not taken such a poetic e-mail in English for a long time. Of course I know William Wordsworth, as an English teacher, we studied it in the university, I have seen that i still remember and thanks for reminding. More over I have got valuable information from the mail.

I am from Turkey and I am an English Teacher.

Dear Alan,

Thank you for the newsy "Spring has sprung" update on Easter and the touch of classic English Romanticism brought in by the famous Wordsworth's poem. As Christian I take Easter very seriously. Our Lord Jesus Christ conquered death in human flesh and so the stairway to heaven is no longer a symbolic dream but the reality of His faith. I would advise reading a much shorter piece of poetry carved on the tombstone of another great Englishman - John Wesley.

"I regard the whole world as my mission field(parish)"
"Men of God die in their pilgrimage yet the work of God remains for ever."
"The best of all things is that God is with us"

The heavenly name of our Lord is Emanuel i.e "GOD with us" and that makes all the difference.
In His service

Dear Alan,

First of all, Hi!!!! I really liked the essay!!!!! My name is Flor and i am from argentina. I would like you to know that i have loved the english language since i was a little girl....in fact, i learnt it by paying quite a lot of attention to the way people speak in american tv series, such as friends, dawson?s creek, charmed, etc...so i apologize if my grammar is not the appropiate one. Nowadays, i am studying profesorado de ingl?s in miramar, bs as, because i want to improve my knowledge of the english language and culture and because i?ve discovered that i ?d like to become a good english teacher who can transmit the same some love and passion i feel for this language to my pupils, in order to make them feel the importance of having some cultural awareness of other people lives, customs and desires...

Thank you very much for your letter, i?m looking forward to hearing from you soon...

I hope you can understand what your language and culture means to me...
Best wishes!!!
Flor

Dear Sirs,

I'm so surprised but very glad that I've got Alan Townend's essay. It's my first time someone sent this to me!! And, according to your mail, I'd like to tell you alittle about myself.

I live Thailand( or Siam in the former time ), a quite small country in Southeast Asia. I studied English as a foreign language at school and in a college. When I was a student, I got good grade of English. So I was very interested in it. It was ( and it is ) a pity that I seldom spoke ( and speak ) to foreigners. I've learned a lot only reading and grammar. And now I'm an English teacher in a secondary school in the country. I think I can do very little about English.

And I'm very weak on operating or surfing the Net. I don't know whether you can understand this or not. I think we ( most Thai people ) have to accept that we are in developing country.

I look forword to getting your ESL newsletterone more.

Your
sincerely,
Wassana Somjit

Dear Alan,

Jesus Christ has been resurrected!

In my country, during Easter Festivals, people greet each other this way and wish all the best. My country is called "the small Switzerland"; it is situated in a picturesque place in the eastern Europe between Ukraine and Romania. This is Moldova. My country is also known as a Garden In Blossom.

Thank you a lot for your splendid warm letter! It really warmed my heart and my cold fingers (it is very cold in here).

Sooth to say I did not expect to receive any reply from you.

I have sent my letter because I was in low spirits; I needed some material In the English language for my term paper, but in vain. The reason is that I am a teacher of English and in addition I am studding at the University the English language. After my graduation I will teach children in the school.

I apologize that did not answer earlier. I simply do not nave my own computer; usually I use my sister's computer.

Unfortunately, I can not afford myself to subscribe anything. Nevertheless,I thank you for everything and wish all the best. Forgive me for troubling you.

With great respect Galina

Dear Alan,

I will ask this question again because the other letter failed. I would like to know the name of the little things on the tips of shoelaces. They put the name after the person who invented it. Also, I can't find it in dictionaries. Thank you very much.

Hello Alan, first of all I thank you for your fascinating Newsletter “May I have a word?” Will you believe? I read it more than once, and each time, I enjoy reading its every sentence.

I am Mansoor, and lecturer of mathematics. I am a causal short story writer. I love reading and writing the English Stories. Due to getting into the extensive studies and teaching in the math, I cannot spare sufficient time to the writing again.

You can read a few of my works at: http://www.writing.com/main/view_item/user_id/smilingsun

It seems to me that your forum will keep me in touch with English learning while I am busy in mathematics. Very Happy

I would like to be the part of your different forums, as time permits me. Cool

Best Regard.

Dear Alan,
Thank you so much for your wonderful essay. I apologize that I should answer before. I am very delighted to read your nice essay "spring has sprung". I would like you to know that I like your web-site very much nearly every topics like vocabulary, idioms, toefl essay and synonyms. Every day I try to learn few vocabulary and idioms.

Sometimes I think I will send my Toefl essay for correction, but I feel shamed that my essay quality is not so high. I am from Bangladesh, now I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. My language background is not good, but one day I wish I could speak English like a English person. I am working hard to improve my English.

Could you drop some advice how should I study to improve my English (reading, speaking, listening and writing).
I would also like you to know that I like your ESL newsletter. This is very helpful.

Thanks,
Gayotri
