Hello,

This morning while going thru a scientific journal, I came across the followings

Lens magnifations : x50, x800....

I can't help but feel the weirdness of the word "magnifation" here. Shouldn't it be magnification? Is it just a typo or does such word exist?Informally maybe?

Thank you in advance,

Nina

I strongly hope and believe it's the typo of magnification, Nina. BTW, you changed your pic here recently, which seems to me having a high-resolution (magnification?). :) Forgive and forget my rubbish.

No, definitely not! Nina. We can't say 'high magnification' here but I guess it's possible in some other context. Oh, I know that's Kimutaku.... I am not that ignorant.... :D (I'm kidding) Oh, I also noticed you changed your bottom-line message as well. It sounds difficult to me but I happened to know Machiavelli was an Italian political theorist, right? Does the quotation mean something like 'where there is a will there is a way'?

And he was also a prince I guess, not sure. But I learnt that quotation long time ago from a story book and found out the person who said it.

I think you can take it that way, but somehow I feel it has a stronger impact. 8)
