Is it correct to write 1 March 2007 or 1st March 2007?

I was taught to use cardinal numbers for the date... 1 March 2007...except for formal announcements when ordinals are used and written in full...First of March Two thousand and seven.

I would write either March 1, 2007 or 1 March 2007.

I would not write 1st March 2007.

If you're feeling European (or Canadian or Aussie, though I am not sure of the correct form in those countries), it would be 1 March 2007.
