TOEFL essay: At what age should a person be considered an adult? #1 (permalink) Tue Apr 10, 2007 18:53 pm   TOEFL essay: At what age should a person be considered an adult?

Topic: At what age should a person be considered an adult? Make a decision about this issue, then argue your point of view.

Become a real adult
You think you are an adult, don't you? Why do you think so? Do you have enough everything to answer those questions? Someone think a person who is 16 years old is an adult, but I think 18 years-old person is a real adult.

So when are you considered an adult? It doesn't belong age, it belongs your thoughts. A person is big and strong but his thought is like a teen. Then he doesn't become an adult yet. How about you? Do you wonder about your skills to become an adult? I think you should tend to be self-directed and have a rich reservoir of experience that can serve as a resource for learning.

Experience is too important. It can help you in your family, your career, and your life. Moreover, you are frequently affected by your need to know or do something. Beside, you tend to have a life, task, problem-centered orientation to learning as opposed to a subject-matter orientation. All of those skills you will have when you're 18 years old. That's why I think when you're 18, you're an adult. Addition, somethings in life accept you when you're 18 such as driving car, taking GED, Smoking, etc. Then so many people think that 18 years old is enough to do somethings. Some special cases, someone become an adult before they're 18. Because their thinkings are of an adult. They can control themselves and don't do like kids.

Although life is so difficult, an adult can face and solve problems by themselves. That's is a different between an adult and a kid. When you solve problems, you will feel older but more confident in your life. An adult is still a human so enjoy your life and happiness. Life key is the way to find your way around strange things.
