Hi,

What do you make of the following sentence, do you think it's acceptable English?

Neither Jack's underbaked opinions nor his overcooked casseroles were palatable to me.

Thanks,
Torsten

Hi Torsten

To me, an underbaked opinion would be a shallow opinion -- i.e. an opinion with insufficient input and thought behind it.

I guess I would interpret the 'casserole' part either figuratively or literally depending on the rest of the context.

I like the sentence.

We would virtually never say "underbaked", but more often "half-baked". The author obviously used the term "underbaked" for parallelism with "overcooked". It was poetic license.
