[I was] or [I were]? Wed Apr 18, 2007 5:28 am  [I was] or [I were]?

.
Use 'I was' for indicative sentences: 'I was a tapdancer'; 'Was I late yesterday?'
Use 'I were' for subjunctive sentences: 'If I were Ruby Keeler, I would be able to tapdance'.
