first of all, i need to confirm whether u are a sophomore or junior, if u are a senior, consider going to community colleges because it is way too late. Applying for college: when you enter 12th grade, your school and social study class will be responsible for the primary process of applying to college. there will be nights of informative meetings about applying to college. for many colleges, you will need to write college applications(like essay) and you need to fill out a form of application that includes all your information, all your high school activities and major selection etc. your social study or english teacher will aid you through college application. Your sat and sat ii, including ap scores and transcripts will be sent to the schools you are applying to. but, sat and sat ii and ap, if you exceed 4 colleges as your candidate schools, you need to pay additional fee for each colleges you send your scores to. notice that sat, sat ii are different tests, therefore separate money. your transcript of high school can be sent at no cost to your candidate schools. (if you taken classes in community college or other universities, you can call them and let them send to your candidate schools as well) for most universities, not 2 or 3 year college or state, because i assume you have higher standards than that, will require not only sat i but sat subject tests aka sat II, some require 2, some require 3. after those tests however, you need to maintain your grade. Here is the % of importance of things you do in high school that counts in college admission: SAT & SAT II or ACT(i think ACT looks worse and easier)= 45% Extracurricular activities(sports, volunteer, clubs etc.)= 20% school grades aka GPA = 30% (many schools count weighted GPA) 5% other stuff Do notice that good college application essay will give you better results, great or outstanding extracurricular activities, such as sports(if you kobe u go straight in NBA, but we dont see indians in NBA do we? JOKING!!) and amazing experiences will have great results too. my friend programmed a website that currently has 60k users online is the one out of 4 people getting into MIT this year. OH MY GOD i am SO jealous. yep so anyways, good SAT scores and GPA will get you to decent school, in addition to that, amazing extracurricular activities will get you in great schools.(not to mention my friend who programmed for NASA last year got in stanford early decision, what a beast!)
So aditi, have fun! |
