a couple of english idioms

Could you help me out with understanding these idioms:

1. We should lay it off on fate and destiny - does it mean we should blame it on fate and destiny
2. The judge slapped a quick coat of whitewash on me - does it mean He let me off (didnt punish me properly) ?
3. I've got a Sony beeper, $200,000 worth of diagnostic equipment - does it mean that My equipment includes this Sony beeper ?

Also could you tell me if all those sayings sound natural and familiar to you (I mean if you hear me say them, would you understand me)

Hi, I haven't heard of the first two. Although, I would guess that the first one means "Don't blame fate and destiny", but I would need to see it in context to be able to improve on that guess.

"Whitewash" is used as a type of house paint, and "to whitewash" can mean to use this type of paint, or to cover something over (as if by paint). I am guessing that the judge is going to let you off and not punish you properly.

For the third one, I've got a Sony beeper, $200,000 worth of diagnostic equipment. It means that your beeper is worth $200,000, and is a piece of diagnostic equipment.
