Hi,
Please explain why I couldn't use "us" in this sentence. I think it must go with "we've..."
Thank you

It's a fixed expression - it's always goodness me or my goodness no matter how many people are involved.

'Goodness' is often just a more benign was of saying 'God'.

All these expressions, 'goodness me', 'Thank goodness/thank heavens', 'goodness gracious', 'gracious me', 'my goodness/gracious', and more are all references to heaven and God. Since some people believe that you should not use God's name in vain, these various euphemisms are substituted for the stronger versions of 'thank God', 'my God', 'good God', etc.

I suspect the form 'goodness me' is an archaic construction form for some reason we still retain.
