TOEFL® Essay Sample: A company announced that it wishes to build a large factory

In my community , building a factory can bring a serious impact on our health, especially bring us cancer disease while my community is not strong enough to prevent from it . Therefore ,I strongly oppose to the plan building a factory in my community . The reasons are listed more evidently as follows .

Embarking its activites,the factory will be to your community's advantages . Coming with it is a large sum of people, for example workers, engineers and even directors .A more populated area will create bigger consuming market ,especially with products as soaps ,clothes,and so on ; this means retail detailers in my community will earn their livings at more ease . Not only so, making an appearance of such a large factory will absorb almost all of unemployed Labour Force of my community. A family can reform their living standard by an extra income from some member working for the factory ,and the local gorvenment can increase a colossal sum of tax income. My community will be more prosperous day by day . However ,you cant ignore how it will take its toll on the normal life of citizens .

The first thing should be consider is the inevitable pollution .Day to day,month to month, the population must suffer noise pollution from roads with the rumbling of monster vehicles ,as well as from the company activites. Moreover,the waste materrials and suffocating gas given off to the air will make you feel too difficult to breathe as well as before. All of them will show no signs of ceasing their effect until the factory is brought to the standstill. Human's life not only contains work,but also needs relaxing time, such as a peaceful day at home with their family ,or just only a long walk around their surroundings ;but you cant have this when you live near a factory .

Maybe you can exchange all of above for a better living standard ,but the serious impact on health cant be accepted...As much information as i know there are some factories producing 5000 m3 waste water per day in Vietnam ,but only above half of it can be dealt with. Almost all of waste water is industrial sewage containing high grades of dioxin compounds which can connect to disease we have not found out the way to cure yet ,such as cancer . Moreover, fresh water is a necessary condition for people to survive . Maybe you know well the importance of it when your body contain seventy percent of water and you have to use water regularly .In this world ,people have launched campaigns to protect the water resource , so, how on earth you see water destroyed without worries ?

If my country had enough equipments and technology to obstruct from disasters above , it would be an uncommon chance for my community to improve faster . But following the statistics above, it is not believable in safety .So I strongly oppose to this plan , although of the attractiveness of wealth and big advantages to my community.
