Hi Maggie,
| Quote: | | Recently, when I bought one mp3 player, the salesclerk demonstrated one old song for me. That's one of my fovorite songs. I have heard that when I studied in University. The song, definitly, has recalled many things about what I have done, my good friends, classmates, and so on,including great or worst things. Anyway, I think some memories of people would hide in their heart forever. Do you agree with this? |
I'm not so clear about this. But in a person's life, there are always good and not so good memories. Some people choose to forget about their bitter past while they come to terms with it. The pain remains but life still continues. But they instead choose to remind themselves of the good memory again and again, which their hearn yearns for.
At times, when I listen to old songs, those remind me of my days . I'm happy to get attentively deeper into them. But those are also mixed with good and bad memories of mine. On one hand, I choose to remember them as long as they don't affect me. On the other hand, I have ways to choose my memories as the way I would choose my healthy diet. _________________ If you want to change the world, be one of the change. |

Every time when i listen to a song named "青苹果乐园" by "小虎队"(a very popular band by three handsome and lovely young chinese singers from Taiwan.Maybe the english name of the band is Young Tigers )I recall my childhood. At that time when it was 1980s just several years after china's reform and opening up to the outside word policy being carried out, every thing from outside china was attractive and novel to the youth especially pop musics from Hongkong and Tianwan. Every noon i would sit in front of the radio waiting for the beautiful melody of the song flying out of the radio. I remember the sunlight of that time was really bright and everything was tranquil except the music and I. What the mists of the past leaves me is just music, sunlight and me- the one in childhood. _________________ Try to change youself before you try to change others. |

Hi,aleaf
After seeing you post some simplified characters,I viewed some posts you wrote. I know you are Chinese. I am wondering which city of China were you born and where do you live. Anyway,it's great to see you here. I am not sure if you know I come from Taiwan. Although we are both Chinese,we follow the different rules. Maybe you don't care about this. That's all right. Actually,I haven't gone to China. I hope I can go there one day.
Greetings!

Hi Maggie,
Nice to meet you. Just as you said i am a chinese. I was born in Beijing and when i was 5 years old my father retired from the army my families returned to Tianjin. I live in Tianjin at present. I am glad i can meet a chinese here.Despite we follow different rules, i believe both ppl from Taiwan and ppl from mainland are chinese. In fact we have many common grounds except political issues.Even speaking of the political issues, both Mr.Lian Zhan and Mr. Song Chuyu have visited Mainland.
Welcome you to mainland in the near future. There are lots of places deserving you to learn and visit. And when you come here you might find mainland is quite different from what you expected.
Which part of china did you families belong to before they went to Taiwan?

Hi,aleaf
I think you meant which part of china did my ancestors belong to. Well,my ancestors lived in Fukien. I have heard some of my elder family said this. So I can say another langague, which is another Chinese language, that people who live in Fukien would usually say. I don't know how to say it in English,do you? Moreover,I think you can understand what I said even if you don't know the English term.
Talk to you soon.

Hi Maggie & aleaf,
Nice to see you here.
I think Fukien people speak Minnan dialects,hehe...just like Kwangtung people speak cantonese....however,those languages have the same written expression.
Well,i doubt whether people can communicate with others if there is no mandarin, because we have so many different dialect accents in mainland.

Hi,edwin
Pleased to meet you, too. I think we don't need to worry about we have so many different dialect accents. As I know,in western countries, they have many different dialect accents, also. They still communicate well. So in my opinion,it doesn't a problem. People will try to understand each other. That's why we can communicate with all people from all of the world. We still can make sense ourselves, can't we?
Greetings!

hi edwin: I am very glad that i meet a second chinese in this forum. NIce to meet you. In fact it is really very difficult to communicate with people who don't speak mandarin. I remember once upon a time i entered a chatroom where all ppl there seemed to be from guangdong. What were they talking about? i just couldn't figure out. Personally, both minnan and cantonese are like foreign languages to me. radiculous it was we communicated each other in English quite well. English is really worthy of the name-universal language. aleaf _________________ Try to change youself before you try to change others. |

yeah, wow... the nostalgia.
songs from the 80s remind me of my time in grade school (elementary school -- K through 8th grade) -- generally.
"Once Bitten, Twice Shy", "Monkey" and "Right Here Waiting" remind me of summer church camp (lol).
"All My Life" reminds me of the college girlfriend (late '90s). We used to sing along with it in my car. We heard it at a party once, danced and sang to it there. I suppose that was our song, though she was not a pop-music lover generally. Man I loved her.
