TOEFL® Essay: The necessary skills

Question:
What is the most important skill a person should learn in order to be successful in the world today? Choose one skill and use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.
Answer:
I believe that the computer skills are one of the most important abilities in the contemporary world. Since the 80’s computers have become a necessary part of everyone’s life and it is hard to imagine today’s progressive people without abilities to send e-mail or find information in the Internet. These attainments make us successful, affecting positively on our studies, work and private life.

The good education is the basement for future successful life and computer skills could help us to study more effectively. A person, who knows how to work on the computer, could prepare better for classes because he has access to the huge amount of information in the Internet. It’s possible to not only receive excellent marks easier, but also make research projects without making the expensive natural experiments. If the man has some kind of the investigation or even articles with the explorations’ results it’s easier to find a good job.

On the other hand, computer skills are the crucial parameter to attend to a good job and to be promoted higher and higher. Nowadays, every employer wants to have a worker with good computer’s background. Even doctors and school teachers need in such skills because they have to process the results of the laboratory tests or make the interactive presentations using the computer. I don’t say about the situation in the high-tech industry, because there the necessary computer artistry is more advanced.

Eventually, we need acquaintances to be happy and successful and computers give us abilities to communicate with the distant relatives and friends. It’s quite easy to find people with the same interests in Internet and to improve any skill communicating with them day in and day out. So, it will not be so hard to be on the first edge of life and progress if you are using computer.

A contemporary person should learn a lot of things throughout the life and computer skills are the necessary part of this education. All in all, they could make anyone successful in spite of the fact that the meaning of this word is different for everyone.
