Could someone help me to understand this expression?
"We were hanging pretty heavy in Seattle"
Is it a slang expression?
The context it's about Seventies, after political activism years. The persons in question drink a lot.

It could be in reference to spending a large amount of time with one or more people. Meaning: close relationship or friendship, hanging out quite often.

I think it means that they were doing something important. What they were doing had meaning. They were having an impact.
