A student asked me to explain the different uses of "back" and "behind", when to use one or the other. I can't quite organize my thoughts on how to explain this.

Thanks a lot for joining our community! You've asked an interesting question and I think 'back' is more used in connection with a movement (go back, give back, look back, call back, etc.) whereas 'behind' seems to be used when describing a location (behind the counter, behind your eyes, etc.)
